How You Can Help Our Planet
We are the first generation to know we’re destroying the world, and we could be the last that can do anything about it.
If you want to see a change in the world…it starts with you!
“Saving the planet” can be something really daunting and scary and we don’t know where to start, right?
When it comes to being more sustainable and try to help our planet, most of the time, it comes down to three little words: Reduce, reuse and recycle.
- Reduce: Make sure you really need that item before purchasing it.
- Reuse: Instead of buying something new, make sure you don’t have something at home that will help you for that purpose.
- Recycle: If there’s an item that you don’t need anymore, make sure you dispose it correctly, recycling it
We are going to give you a few but very simple things you can do at home and incorporate in your lifestyle that can help to reduce your footprint on this planet:
-
- Be educated (know what’s going on with our planet)
- Use your voice (share your knowledge with people around you and demand change in your government)
- Volunteer
- Reduce your meat consumption, eat a more plant-based diet
- Have your own vegetable or herb garden (if you have the space and love for it)
- Eat more locally (it will help your local economy and reduce the emissions released into the atmosphere)
- Compost your waste
- Reduce single use plastic
- Take your reusable bags to the supermarket
- Use cloth napkins, instead of using paper napkins
- Use a reusable water bottle
- Use a reusable coffee/tea mug
- Walk more, ride a bike more – less car
- Take public transportation (if possible), or carpool with friends or colleagues
- Use clean products with less chemicals in it
- When shaving, use a safety razor instead of using those single use plastic razors
- Use a menstrual cup, instead of tampons
- Switch the lights when leaving a room
- Use a clothesline, ditch the dryer
- Turn the tap off when brushing your teeth
- Buy second-hand
- Choose reusable energy
- Use LED lighting or CFL bulbs instead of incandescent lighting
- Pay attention to labels (Choose Fair Trade certified goods when possible to support companies dedicated to sustainable production and paying laborers a fair wage)
- Buy organic food whenever possible
- Take the stairs over the elevator, it saves energy and it’s a great workout
- Invest in better quality items that last longer
- Support brands that are ethical and environmentally conscious
We have already uploaded two videos on our Instagram and Youtube about it but we thought it would be nice to be written down too.
We hope this helped you! Is there anything you do that we didn’t mention? Leave it in the comments so we can start doing it too 😀
